This week, we are highlighting a local altruist dabbling with work-purpose balance and opportunities instead of the usual deep dive of the Fulcrum.

Altruist Spotlight
The Altruist: A primary care provider at an underserved clinic, still carrying student loans and helping support her family.
The squeeze: She loves the work, but it's quietly eating up her personal life. Between loans and the family she helps support, her time isn't really hers to reclaim, so she absorbs the overflow herself by seeing patients all day, then charting at home well into the evening. Money on one side, her own hours on the other. At this current stage in her career, she is facing the time versus money dilemma.
The Action: She stopped wishing vaguely for "balance" and anchored on a number she can work with: 32 hours, a target she's started moving toward. She reframed the exhaustion itself, refusing to blame patients for an overloaded system, locating the problem where it belongs, and identifying where to speak up for herself with the appropriate leadership.
The Takeaway: Carving out a life outside the work takes creating a concrete goal to push toward and a clear-eyed read of the system you're pushing against.
"There's absolutely a version of me that says I need more money, and a version of me that says I need my time back."
